Pre-seed consumer London

We back founders who
feel the future
before they can explain it.

Torvén invests at the earliest moment — when a company is little more than a founder and a feeling. We exist for that threshold.

Culture moves before capital does

The best consumer companies are born inside a cultural shift — not from a slide deck. By the time a trend is legible, it's late. We look for founders living inside something the rest of the world hasn't named yet.

II

Conviction is the only asset at pre-seed

There are no metrics. No retention curves. No proof. There is only a founder with an uncommon view of what people want — and the will to build toward it. That's what we invest in.

III

The best ideas feel dangerous at first

Companies that define categories often sound wrong before they sound right. We are comfortable with ideas that make us pause. That pause is often a signal.

IV

Patience is a competitive advantage

We do not optimize for markups. We optimize for enduring companies. We'll wait for the right founder, the right moment, and we'll stay with them through the long middle.

"The founders we back don't ask for permission.
They ask for a partner who already believes."

Torvén Investment Philosophy

Quiet presence.
Fierce
commitment.

We decide fast

Pre-seed founders don't have time for a 12-week process. If we're in, you'll know within two meetings. We respect your time as much as your vision.

We go deep or not at all

We run a concentrated portfolio. Every founder we back gets real access — not a Slack message every quarter. We are at our best when we can be genuinely present.

We don't perform optimism

We'll tell you what we see — including the hard things. Honesty at the earliest stage is the most valuable thing a backer can offer. We practice it without apology.

We think in decades

The companies we admire most took ten years to become obvious. We're structured to hold, to wait, and to be there at every turn — not just the first one.

Companies we believe in.

Early. Concentrated. Patient.

Investment Thesis 2026

On backing founders who
feel before they know.

Torvén Ventures Pre-seed consumer London

There is a moment, usually brief and rarely comfortable, when a founder knows something is true before they can prove it. Before the deck. Before the pilot. Before anyone else sees it. We have built Torvén around the conviction that this moment — properly recognised — is the most valuable in venture capital.

We invest in consumer companies at the pre-seed stage. That is not a financial strategy so much as a philosophical one. It means we must make decisions with almost no data, in almost no time, about people we have only just met. It means our edge cannot be analytical. It must be something else entirely.

"The best consumer companies were never discovered. They were felt."

Why consumer?

Consumer is the hardest category to invest in and, when it works, the most enduring. There is no moat from a patent or a switching cost from enterprise integration. The only moat is that people love the thing — genuinely, durably, in a way that compounds. That love either exists or it doesn't. No amount of performance marketing manufactures it.

We believe we are entering a period of unusual consumer creative fertility. The tools to build, distribute, and reach customers have never been cheaper or more powerful. At the same time, people are increasingly allergic to products that feel manufactured for them rather than made for someone who truly understands them.

Why pre-seed?

Because that is where the decision is made. Not in the Series A, where the metrics either work or they don't. Not at seed, where there is enough signal to form a committee. At pre-seed, you are betting on a person and an idea — and nothing else is yet in the room.

"We are not looking for founders who have figured it out. We are looking for founders who cannot stop thinking about it."

What we look for

We look for founders with an unusual relationship to their problem — people who have been living inside an experience and refuse to accept that it hasn't been solved properly. The best pitches we've heard don't sound like pitches. They sound like someone explaining something they've been thinking about for years.

We look for cultural fluency. Consumer taste is not a category. It is a terrain, and some people can read it and some cannot. The brands that endure are the ones that arrived at the right cultural address at the right time.

How we work

We run a deliberately concentrated portfolio. We would rather be genuinely important to twelve companies than nominally present in forty. We decide quickly. When we're in, we say so. When we're not, we say that too — and we explain why.

We hold for as long as we can. We do not push for early liquidity. We are structured to be patient because we believe patience is what distinguishes venture partners from venture tourists.

A final note

The name Torvén comes from the Old Norse — an echo of thunder, of force that moves before it is fully understood. That is what we are looking for. Not the obvious, not the explained, not the already-agreed-upon. The thing that is gathering force before anyone else can hear it.

If you are building something like that, we would like to know about it.

— Torvén Ventures, London, 2026
